Mathematical Practices Put Into Use

This website really does a great job of breaking down the eight mathematical practices and applying them individually to all different grade levels. It includes videos, text, and real life situations in real life classrooms.

I can pull great ideas from the videos shared on this website and apply them directly to my class. Since there are example of videos in all different grade levels, I can get a good idea of what the practices should look like in different scenarios I may run into in my career.

Quick and to the Point Assessments

While pinning, I came across this awesome and super quick exit slip assessment technique. This site is all about exit slip assessments using post-it note questions. The students all answer their post-it question and stick it on the door on their way out. It gives different ideas of what you could do for different things you may be teaching your first graders - and if you are teaching a different grade you can just modify the questions to fit your content needs.

I love this assessment technique and hope I get the chance to use it in my class. I think I will use it similar to the way it is explained on the site and maybe just switch up the content on the post-its!

Great Common Core Based Activities!

K-5 Math Teaching Resources is a great site full of activities that are directly related to specific Common Core standards. The site is divided by grade and by standard within each grade, making it really easy to find exactly what you're looking for! On top of that, there are wonderful project ideas, math centers, classroom organizational tips, and much more on this site.

This site is definitely going to come in handy when I have my own classroom! It is a quick and easy site to go to and pick out a quick introduction activity when beginning a class or an activity to reiterate what we have been discussing. I will also probably use it for the list of teaching resource books.
